Hard tissue alterations after socket preservation: an experimental study in the beagle dog

Abstract: The findings from the present study disclose that incorporation of BioOss Collagen into the extraction socket has only limited impact on the subsequent biologic process with particular respect to the buccal bone plate. The horizontal measurement of the alveolar ridge depicted that the loss of the buccal bone plate was replaced to a certain amount by newly generated bone guided by the BioOss Collagen scaffold. It seems that the mechanical stability provided by BioOss Collagen and furthermore by a free gingival … Show more

“…Several authors agree that filling dental sockets with bone graft biomaterials at the moment of the tooth extraction to preserve alveolar morphology is an effective treatment to prevent the bone reabsorption and MAA [23][24][25][26][27].…”

“…Orijinal kemik morfolojisinin korunması, implant uygulaması öncesi ogmantasyon gereksinimi azalır ve bölgeye yapılacak protetik restorasyonun estetiğini olumlu yönde etkiler. 9 Birçok çalışmada diş çekimi sonrası oluşan fizyolojik rezorpsiyonu durdurmak için farklı teknikler uygulanmıştır, ancak konuyla ilgili elde edilen veriler tartışmalıdır. Son on yıl içinde çekim boşluğunun korunmasında otojen, allojen, ksenojen ve alloplastik kemik greftlerinin yanı sıra, rezorbe olan ve olmayan membranlar kullanılmıştır.…”

“…For example, the buccooral width and the height are measured in two dimensions, based on predefined distances at the time of tooth extraction. On the day of reentry for implant placement, these distances are again measured and the results compared [13,[16][17][18][19][20]. Measurements on models obtained by taking impressions at the time of tooth extraction and at the time of implant placement have been described as an alternative to intraoperative measurements [21].…”
