“…The characters examined by Goldberg and Nelson (1989) plus those considered in the present paper, and examination of additional literature and herbarium specimens of several families, enable us to suggest assigning Haptanthaceae to a position near Violales and Euphorbiales. Like Flacourtiaceae, Haptanthaceae has parietal placentation with several ovules per placenta, whereas Euphorbiaceae has axile placentation with one or two ovules per placenta.…”
