Handling of high resolution imaging data for usage in Monte Carlo calculations

Abstract: This paper discusses the handling of high resolution imaging data in Monte Carlo radiation transport algorithms. A solution for the necessary reduction of the size of the anatomical data is presented. It is discussed by means of memory reduction, influence to calculation performance and possible inaccuracies. Examples of calculated dose distributions are shown.
