The concept of ‘sustainable rural resiliencies’ has an umbrella consideration for multiple situations. Against the main stream of rural geographical literature, the concept of resistance associated with the concept of resilience is used. The concept of resistance is linked with processes of social and spatial tensions and change in the rural community, while the concept of resilience is linked to periods of relative stability in the place at different scales. But, little research uses resistance and resilience as a spatial-time process in a complementary way. In this contribution we use resistance and resilience in this perspective, with socio-spatial manifestations at global, national, regional, and local levels, in form of four scalar spheres and styles of complementarity: resilience model of stability, mix model bottom up, mix model from above and resistance model associated with tensions.

“…Rather, my argument is that more subtle means of control and constraint have displaced, not replaced, those of a more blatant sort. In the academic world of political theory, that displacement is reflected in a renewed interest in the 'power to' secure outcomes, as opposed to the more familiar kind of power that is wielded at somebody else's expense (Coleman and Agnew, 2018;Clegg and Haugaard, 2009). What is less well understood about that process of displacement, in both academic and political life, is how the 'power to' secure or influence outcomes more often than not morphs into one where the 'power over' others takes precedence, manipulating and closing down possibilities rather than enabling them.…”

Political geography is that part of human geography most directly involved with studying politics. It is a field of inquiry concerned with the geographical organization of governance, the ways in which geographical imaginations figure in world politics, and the spatial basis to political identities and associated political movements. The geopolitical context of the time has been crucial to the making of academic political geography over the past 100 years. The field has not evolved simply as the result of an internal intellectual dynamic, as one “paradigm” has simply replaced another because of intellectual fashion or academic competition. At the same time, the empirical scope of the field has widened from the original focus on the spatial attributes of statehood and global geopolitics to consider questions, for example about the origins and spread of political movements, the links between places and identities, and geographies of nationalism and ethnic conflict.
