DISTRIBUTION CODE ABSTRACT (maximum 200 words)Large unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) swarms are a nascent technology promising useful military and civilian solutions to difficult problems. Securing data communications within the swarm is essential to accomplishing swarm objectives. The Naval Postgraduate School has successfully demonstrated the launch, flight and landing of 50 UAVs. The communications architecture to support a UAV swarm is unique. The practical challenges of creating a secure communications channel in the swarm are detailed in this thesis. The Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) was chosen as one of the encryption algorithms for testing, as it is authorized by the National Security Agency (NSA). Various modes of AES, including Galois/Counter Mode and Counter with Cipher Block Chaining Message Authentication Code, were analyzed within the swarm architecture. The impact of these authenticated encryption algorithms on network throughput and processor performance is presented. In addition to AES, ChaCha20-Poly1305, another type of authenticated encryption scheme, was studied. It was found to be the better solution for securing the swarm if classified data is not being handled or created. SUBJECT TERMS

The modern approach for developing software in service robotics is through the use of robotics middleware platforms. Although the main concept is similar across platforms, their discrepancy among abstractions hinders the composition and administration of highly integrated systems, resulting in usability issues for the developers. We identify that this can be improved by normalizing the abstractions of the heterogeneous systems at runtime. We propose a framework that sets the concept of "Roles" to define a novel method of creating and reasoning system models by normalizing abstractions to produce practical platform-agnostic representations of systems, which is implemented in a cross-platform infrastructure and a GUI. This paper verifies and validates the functionality and usability (by benchmarking) of the proposed framework through a case-study using a real and a simulated mobile robot. The results from usage trials with test subjects showed improved usability, and demonstrated the overall advantage of using the proposed approach.

Abstract-Today, various types of aircraft are being operated within the city. Especially, most users who buy the drone for entertainment are living in the city. Also demand is increasing for drones it can be used in transport logistics, the limit is needed about illegal activity of these drones. Because, there are various problems through the drone like terrorism works of men and money, use on delivery of illegal products and shooting for military important places. In this paper, in order to solve these problems, we propose an effective method to execute the preflight authentication of drones and to verify origin and trajectory of flight at the time of utilization of the aircraft crash and crime.
