“…In this framework, thermophilic microalgae and cyanobacteria have been extensively studied (Patel et al 2019). The halophile Dunaliella salina is used as a natural source of b-carotene (Santos et al 2001, Arakawa et al 2012, Varshney et al 2015, while Arthrospira platensis, a filamentous alkaliphilic cyanobacterium living in hypersaline lakes (Berry et al 2003), is employed as food and feed additive in human and animal nutrition (Varshney et al 2015). Spolaore et al (2006) reported that Arthrospira is used in human nutrition because of its high protein content, its excellent nutritive value, and various possible health-promoting effects such as the alleviation of hyperlipidemia and suppression of hypertension.…”
