Halide Perovskites and Their Derivatives for Efficient, High‐Resolution Direct Radiation Detection: Design Strategies and Applications

Kavya Reddy Dudipala,
Thanh‐Hai Le,
Wanyi Nie
et al.

Abstract: The past decade has witnessed the rapid rise in performance of optoelectronic devices based on lead‐halide perovskites (LHPs). The large mobility‐lifetime products and defect tolerance of these materials, essential for optoelectronics, also make them well‐suited for radiation detectors, especially given the heavy elements present, which is essential for strong X‐ray and γ‐ray attenuation. Over the past decade, LHP thick films, wafers and single crystals have given rise to direct radiation detectors that have o… Show more

“…Radiation is commonly found in different sectors, including but not limited to nuclear power facilities, the healthcare industry, and the aerospace field. This includes not only α/β particles and X-rays but also γ-rays and other energetic particles . While the rapid development of the nuclear industry has brought significant benefits to our lives, it also poses a threat due to its ability to induce genetic mutations. As we are aware, recent nuclear accidents have resulted in substantial loss of life and widespread panic among the population.…”

“…The resulting charge carriers are then collected by the electrodes and generate a measurable electrical signal. Direct detectors typically offer higher quantum efficiency, higher spatial resolution, and faster response time compared to indirect detectors [14,15]. As for indirect detectors, an MHP scintillator material is employed.…”
