Haematophagy is costly: respiratory patterns and metabolism during feeding inRhodnius prolixus

Abstract: Feeding on the blood of vertebrates is a risky task for haematophagous insects and it can be reasonably assumed that it should also be costly in terms of energetic expenditure.
