“…2 Many cases of orbital hemangiopericytoma have been reported in the literature along with various surgical approaches, long-term outcomes, and techniques to manage recurrence; however, few have discussed preoperative embolization. 1,3-5 Intraoperative hemorrhage is a concern in both the congenital and the adult form of these cases 6,7 and may be an indication for preoperative embolization. A unique case of preoperative embolization was presented with n-butyl cyanoacrylate for surgical resection of a large orbital hemangiopericytoma in a 58-year-old woman.…”

“…Many cases of hemangiopericytoma (as opposed to meningioma) have more "aggressive" neuroradiologic features including irregular or lobulated margins, 18 parenchymal invasion, bone erosion, and heterogeneous enhancement. [7][8][9] Meningioma was the preoperative diagnosis in all but one (case 5) of our cases but all had atypical features that were suggestive of a more aggressive pathology like hemangiopericytoma.…”

“…Only seven cases of meningeal hemangiopericytoma associated with subarachnoid, 5) subdural, 1,16) intratumoral, 4) and intracerebral hemorrhage 9,21) have been reported (Table 1). However, some previous patients with angioblastic meningioma manifesting as intracranial hemorrhage actually might have had hemangiopericytoma.…”

“…1,4,5,9,21) These tumors bleed profusely, and the large amount of bleeding from these tumors has caused deaths on the operating table or in the early postoperative course. [10][11][12] Preoperative radiotherapy or intratumoral embolization might be useful to reduce this profuse bleeding, but cannot be used in the emergent situation.…”
