H2MBH2 and M(μ-H)2BH2 Molecules Isolated in Solid Argon: Interelement M–B and M–H–B Bonds (M = Ge, Sn)

Abstract: Laser-ablated boron atoms react with GeH molecules to form novel germylidene borane HGeBH, which undergoes a photochemical rearrangement to the germanium tetrahydroborate Ge(μ-H)BH upon irradiation with light of λ = 405 nm. For comparison, the boron atom reactions with SnH only gave the tin tetrahydroborate Sn(μ-H)BH. Infrared matrix-isolation spectroscopy with deuterium substitution and the state-of-the-art quantum-chemical calculations are used to identify these species in solid argon. A planar structure of … Show more

“…30 The peak at 2923, 2853, 2347, and 740 cm −1 could be attributed to the characteristic of the C-H stretching and bending vibration. 31,32 The weak bands at 2008 cm −1 correspond to carbonyl species. 33 The peaks at 1000-1500 cm −1 correspond to the C-O stretching vibration.…”

“…42 Finally, the indium complexes could readily aggregate into InOOH nanosheet through van der Waals interactions during solvothermal process. 32 In comparison, when adding the acetic acid or nitric acid to the reaction system, the products will grow into spherical morphology. It's deduced that the H + adsorbed on the surface of nanomaterials would accelerate the aggregation of nanoparticles by molecular interaction into nanospheres with certain crystallographic orientation, resulting in the formation of spherical-shaped particles.…”
