Gypsies: A Selected Bibliography (Central and Eastern Europe)

Abstract: Since the fall ofthe communist regimes in Eastern Europe in 1989, increasing racism and nationalism have led to open violence against Gypsies in most of the countries included here-not that Gypsies' human rights aren't being violated elsewhere. We need to hear the Gypsies' story oftheir fight for digni ty and justice, and though only some of the following references are by Gypsy authors or include Gypsy voices, this short bibliography can serve as a springboard to the Gypsies' history and culture.
