Gut lymph and lymphatics: a source of factors leading to organ injury and dysfunction

Abstract: Major trauma, shock, sepsis, and other conditions can lead to the acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), which may progress to the highly lethal multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS).
