“…To improve the scanning speed of mechanical deflectors, researchers have begun exploring high-speed non-mechanical deflectors. Non-mechanical beam deflectors use the liquid crystal birefringence effect, acousto-optic effect, and electro-optic effect, among others, to achieve beam deflection by changing the refractive index of transparent media. Non-mechanical beam deflectors can be further categorized into liquid crystal-phased array deflectors, acousto-optical deflectors, electro-optical deflectors, and others.…”

“…The proposed all-solid-state beam deflection system which use the light beam deflection system to take the place of the mechanism of electron beam deflection system. Through this innovation, we develop the theory of all-optical solid-state scanner engineering design study, in order to be able to break through the bottleneck of traditional electron beam deflection system, realize the deflection to a wide optical spectrum in a small space, instead of the conventional scanner's complicate system [3,4] . This all-optical solid-state scanner puts forward new ideas to the super fast diagnosis technology, which can greatly improve the streak camera and other technical equipment for super fast phenomenon observed performance.…”

“…4 Recently there have been several nonmechanical beam-steering devices developed by different research groups. [5][6][7][8][9][10][11] With its low driving voltage and mature ͑low-cost͒ fabrication technology, liquid-crystal ͑LC͒ technology seems to be an excellent candidate for beam-steering devices. The effort in the development of LC beam deflectors can be traced back to the early 1970's.…”
