No significant correlation exists between the amount of biologically active marmoset chorionic gonadotrophin (mCG) in urine and results obtained with an immunological pregnancy test. The pregnant marmoset excretes large amounts of oestrogenic steroids, which must be removed, to prevent the enhancement of the response of the bioassay for mCG. More than 99% of these unconjugated and conjugated urinary oestrogens can be removed by extraction with acetone and ether. mCG is excreted throughout pregnancy, maximum levels occurring between the 8th and 9th week of gestation. There is a considerable within- and between-animal variation in the amount of mCG excreted. However, the pattern of gonadotrophin excretion by the pregnant marmoset is similar to that of man and the apes but unlike that of baboons and macaques.

Chorionic gonadotrophin (CG) is present in the placentae of man and rhesus monkey throughout pregnancy. In man the concentration of gonadotrophin is highest, and in the rhesus monkey it is lowest in early pregnancy. In man the concentration of placental CG falls as gestation proceeds; in the rhesus monkey there is a significant increase in monkey chorionic gonadotrophin (MCG) as the placenta ages. The marmoset term placenta has less gonadotrophin in it than either that of man or rhesus monkey.

Zuerst wird ein Ü berblick ü ber die klassische Auffassung beim Schutz gegen elektrischen Schlag gegeben, der auf der Berü hrungsspannung U T aufbaut. Nach Klarstellung der Begriffe Berü hrungsspannung U T , Berü hrungsstrom I T und ,,worst case'' conditions werden die Berü hrungsmodelle beim Elektrounfall besprochen, die zum ,,new approach'' beim Fehlerschutz durch automatisches Ausschalten fü hren. Aufbauend auf dem Begriff des vertretbaren Risikos ist es dadurch mö glich, fü r die Nullung (TN-System) und die Schutzerdung (TT-System) wissenschaftlich begrü ndete Ausschaltzeiten abzuleiten.Schlü sselwö rter: Berü hrungsspannungen U T ; Berü hrungsströ me I T ; Berü hrungsmodelle; vertretbare Risiken beim schä dlichen elektrischen Schlag; Ausschaltzeiten fü r die Nullung (TN-System) und Schutzerdung (TT-System) Criteria for conventional agreements on tolerable risks of protection against harmful electric shock for alternating current 50= =60 Hz.At first a survey is given on the classical approach of protection against electric shock based on touch voltages U T . After clarification of the concepts of touch voltage U T , touch currents I T and ''worst case'' conditions touch models are discussed being representative for electrical accidents which are then used for the ''new approach'' of protection against electric shock. By using the concept of tolerable risks it is possible to derive disconnection times for fault protection by automatic disconnection of supply for protective neutral earthing (TN-system) and protective separate earthing (TT-system) on a scientific basis. Rü ckblickSchon seit den Anfä ngen der Elektrizitä tsanwendung war es klar, dass Schutzmaßnahmen erforderlich sind, um beim Auftreten von Isolationsfehlern Gefahren zu verhindern, die an berü hrbaren leitfä -higen Teilen in elektrischen Anlagen auftreten kö nnen. Um Normen fü r den Schutz gegen Unfä lle durch die Elektrizitä t festzuschreiben, war aber das Wissen ü ber die Gefahren dieser damals vö llig neuen Energieanwendung auf Mensch und Tier, das heißt also der Stand der Elektropathologie, vö llig unzureichend.Man stritt etwa darü ber, ob der Tod durch die Elektrizitä t ein Atmungstod oder ein Herztod ist (Biegelmeier, Freiberger, 1979), und dementsprechend unsicher waren auch die medizinischen Maßnahmen nach elektrischen Unfä llen. Wie naiv man damals vorging, zeigt die Beschreibung eines Elektrounfalls, der sich etwa 1880 in Berlin an einer Bogenlampenanlage ereignete: ,,Der Verunglü ckte hatte beide Pole berü hrt und fiel infolge des Schlages zu Boden. Einer der umstehenden Herren machte den Vorschlag, den in den Kö rper eingedrungenen Strom unschä dlich in die Erde abzuleiten. Der Verunglü ckte wurde in den Garten geschafft, wo beide Hä nde in den Erdboden gesteckt wurden. Dort lag er, bis er sich erholt hatte.
