Growth Performance of Broiler Chickens Fed Fossil Shell Growth Promoter

Abstract:

A study was carried out to determine the influence of fossil shell (diatomaceous earth) supplemented diets on the performance and bone composition of broiler chickens. A total of 120 day old broiler chicks were used for the experiment and randomly allotted to 5 treatments (T10.9%, T21.2%, T31.5%, T41.8% and T50% inclusion levels respectively). Fossil shell inclusion had no significant influenc… Show more

“…At the end of the experiment, birds were fasted for 24 h with free access to water and then slaughtered. Carcasses were weighed and then chilled at 4 o C for 12 h. 24 h postslaughter, samples of breast and leg muscles were analyzed for pH 24 with an Elmetron CP-411 pH-meter using the combined electrode [30]. Water holding capacity was determined according to the Grau and Hamm [31] filter paper method with modification by Pohja and Niinivaara [32].…”

“…Cobalt deficiency decreases the resistance of animals against helminth infections [92]. Molybdenum also plays an important role in immunity against endoparasite [93] and can decrease the worm burden in lambs [15,94]. Natural food grade FSF contains 15 macro and microminerals, which are important to animal diets.…”

“…Broiler chickens have been developed with genetic potential for faster growth rates to achieve desired body weight in the shortest possible time. This genetic potential can not be fully exploited or can be explained if an appropriate or optimal environment is not provided, as it means that the animal must be adequately supplied with nutrients [7]. Based on the above description, the researchers are interested to compare the method of SAW and TOPSIS in choosing the quality of broiler chicken meat.…”
