“…Among the large variety of existing materials, Yb 3+ :Lu 2 SiO 5 (LSO) [3] has been identified as one of the most promising crystals. LSO benefits from relatively large emission cross-sections [4,5] in the vicinity of 1053-1056 nm, in relationship with intrinsic broadband capabilities. Furthermore, the thermal conductivity, K LSO = 5.3 Wm −1 K −1 , lies in the same range of values as that of Yb 3+ :YAG, K YAG = 6.5 Wm −1 K −1 , and it is less sensitive to the increase of doping levels.…”
