Growth and Kinetic Measurements of Triglycine Sulphate Crystals

Abstract: Synthesis and two-step recrystallisation have been used to produce TGS basic substance, Kinetic measurements have been performed for (110)-type face on a large scale of supersaturations up to about 3%. Evidences of impurity influence for small supersaturation and the "coverage" effect has been estimated.La substance TGS de base a it6 obtenue par synthirse et double recristallisation. La vitesse de croissance de la surface (1 10) du cristal TGS a ete mesuree pour un large domaine des sursaturations jusqu'au 3%.… Show more

“…Crystal growth conditions of pure crystal were intensively studied [2][3][4][5]. Synthesis and purification of the basic material, by fractional recrystallization, peculiar growth kinetic of the crystal and the influence of impurities were previously studied [4].…”

“…The dielectric, optical and thermal properties of TGS have been studied extensively [24,25]. Single crystal TGS was grown from an aqueous solution of sulfuric acid, containing a greater than three-fold excess of glycine [26]. Nanoindentation experiments were performed using a fully calibrated NanoTest instrument (from MicroMaterials, Ltd., UK) with a diamond sphero-conical Rockwell indenter with a nominal radius of 50 µm in load controlled mode.…”

“…The basic TGS substance was synthesized from aminoacetic and sulphuric acid. Two fractional recrystallizations were performed in order to improve the substance quality [13,14]. Middle fraction of the first crystallization was used for the second recrystallization, in order to eliminate presumed impurities with segregation coefficients higher and lower than one.…”
