Growth and Evaluation of Linear Optical, Nonlinear Optical, Thermal, Mechanical and Magnetic Properties of Lithium Sodium Sulfate Single Crystals

Abstract: In recent years, nonlinear optical materials have received attention due to their potential applications in photonics and opto‐electronics. In this pursuit, lithium sodium sulfate (LSS) single crystals are synthesized by adopting a slow evaporation technique at constant temperature (40 °C). The single‐crystal X‐ray diffractometer (XRD) study confirms that the grown LSS belongs to trigonal symmetry with the lattice parameters a = b = 8.452 Å, and c = 30.27 Å. The crystalline nature and purity of LSS are confirm… Show more

“…37,38 Compared with [PO 4 ] tetrahedra, [SO 4 ] tetrahedra can also be considered as functional anionic groups in searching for NLO materials particularly working in the short-wave UV region. [39][40][41][42] 39 and (NH 4 ) 2 Na 3 Li 9 (SO 4 ) 7 , 39 have been reported. To further enhance the NLO properties of sulfates, cations with a stereochemically active lone-pair (SALP, e.g., Sb 2+ , Bi 3+ , etc.)…”

“…Unfortunately, most of them show a small SHG response (<0.5 × KDP). Only LiNaSO 4 , 13 LiKSO 4 , 14 NH 4 NaLi 2 (SO 4 ) 2 15 and Li 9 Na 3 Rb 2 (SO 4 ) 7 16 show a moderate SHG effect that are comparable to that of KDP. Besides the relatively small SHG effect, the SO 4 tetrahedron is considered to be disadvantageous to induce large birefringence due to the isotropy of its structure.…”
