“…We have grown organic crystals using the vertical Bridgman technique: p -terphenyl (PTP), 5,12-dihydro-5,12-diazatetracene-doped p -terphenyl (DHDAT-PTP), 6,13-diazapentacene-doped p -terphenyl (DAP-PTP), 6,13-dihydro-6,13-diazapentacene-doped p -terphenyl (DHDAP-PTP), phenazine-doped p -terphenyl (PNZ-PTP), 5,10-dihydrophenazine-doped p -terphenyl (DHPNZ-PTP), and 5,12-diazatetracene-doped p -terphenyl (DAT-PTP). Before crystal growth began, the ampules were cleaned three times with anhydrous ethanol, isopropyl alcohol, and deionized water and then dried in an oven at 120 °C for 24 h. It is experimentally observed that organic materials with low melting points may sublimate and escape quickly, resulting in tiny crystals and an enormous waste of raw materials . Therefore, we adopted a vacuum sealing strategy to fill the mixed powder of purified p -terphenyl and nitrogen-containing biphenyl (0.1 wt %) into an ampule and sealed it at 10 –2 Pa. During the crystal growth process, because the furnace moves vertically upward, the temperature at the fixed position of the ampule continues to decrease.…”
