Groupware Task Analysis

Abstract: Groupware Task Analysis is a task analysis method that deals with the context of use of a system in the broadest sense. The task world is seen from three viewpoints that deal with different aspects of the world. The processes of GTA and their background are described in detail. In addition a task analysis tool EUTERPE is described. EUTERPE is based on GTA and allows capturing of the task models and provides some basic analysis primitives. INTRODUCTIONAnalyzing a complex system means analyzing the world in whic… Show more

“…In 1986, Cunningham and Beck [12] applied Alexander's idea in co mputer programming and presented the project at a conference called OOPSLA . Design patterns became widely popular after the publishing of Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Ob ject-Oriented Software, written by the Gang of Four (Go F) in 1994 [ 4]. In the field of Hu man-Co mputer Interaction, Kunert and Kro mker [13] proposed a generic h ierarchy of design problems and solution alternatives.…”

“…Duyne, Landay and Hong [10]. Van Welie and van der Veer [11] provide a detailed discussion of HCI design patterns and their formalization into pattern languages. Tidwell [12] and the accompanying site (www.designinginterfaces.com) provide a fairly comprehensive collection of design patterns describing: "what the pattern consists of", "when the pattern should be used" and "why the pattern is useful".…”
