Group velocity locked vector dissipative solitons in a high repetition rate fiber laser

Abstract: Vectorial nature of dissipative solitons (DSs) with high repetition rates is studied for the first time in a normaldispersion fiber laser. Despite the fact that the formed DSs are strongly chirped and the repetition rate is greater than 100 MHz, polarization locked and polarization rotating group velocity locked vector DSs can be formed under 129.3 MHz fundamental mode-locking and 258.6 MHz harmonic mode-locking of the fiber laser, respectively. The two orthogonally polarized components of these vector DSs pos… Show more

“…9(b) . The pulse width is 1.46 ps with assumed sech 2 pulse shape, and the solitons separation is about 3.67 ps, which is in good agreement with the spectral fringe. The solitons separation is estimated to be only 2.5 times of the pulse width, which can be considered as a tightly bound state.…”

“…As shown in Fig. 5(b) , the autocorrelation trace indicates a pulse width of 1.30 ps if a sech 2 pulse shape is assumed. Thus, the time-bandwidth product (TBP) is around 0.61 which implies slightly chirped the pulse is.…”

“…In the simulations, the following parameters are used if not specifically set: T1=T2=4 ps; C1=C2=3.6. Depending on the cavity birefringence and detailed operation conditions, the central wavelength of the two orthogonally polarized components of the GVLVDS could be changed together with the amplitude [16].…”

“…The two output polarization-maintaining branches of the PBS is set to be strictly identical. The basic parameters of pulse duration and chirp of the tested GVLVDSs are from a fundamental GVLVDS generated from a home-made fiber laser [16]. The fiber laser is dispersion-managed but operated in the normal dispersion regime.…”
