Groundwater Quality Assessment for Irrigation: Case Study in the Blinaja River Basin, Kosovo

Abstract: Groundwater is an important source for a drink and irrigation in the Blinaja river basin. Understanding knowledge of irrigation water quality is critical to the management of water for long-term productivity. Historically for this study area there is no data and information regarding the quality and use of water for irrigation needs. Therefore, there was a need to assess water quality based on data analysed from eight sampling points. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate, relying on analytical results, the… Show more

“…Furthermore, Tanes reservoir supplies drinking water to almost the entire urban nucleus of the Principality of Asturias, including its capital, the city of Oviedo. Therefore, its importance is paramount from several points of view (Kerich 2020;C ¸adraku 2021). The Tanes reservoir has the following hydrological characteristics: (a) volume: 33.27 hm 3 ; (b) area: 159 ha; and (c) 95 m of depth in the deepest point.…”

“…Water resources are a key factor restricting socioeconomic development and ecological protection in arid areas [ 7 ]. Therefore, it is necessary to adhere to the principle of "land determined by water" [ 8 ]. Controlling the scale of cultivated land and formulating optimization plans through water resource constraint models is of great significance for cultivated land development and ecological protection in arid areas.…”

“…The only remedy to avert the crisis is to create new technologies for reusing water and encouraging people to conserve water. For example, the government can compute a water budget specific to lakes [8] and rivers etc and access quality of ground water sources used for irrigation [9] and other activities can also help to understand the water scarcity problem.…”
