“…In India, groundnut has been considered as one of the most important agricultural products, which occupies a central position in Indian agricultural economy and serves as a valuable source of nutrients. India has been one of the largest producers of oilseeds in the world, wherein an estimated 23·44 million hectares of land are being used for the cultivation of nine oilseed crops such as groundnut, safflower, sesame, sunflower, soybean, rapeseed, niger (inga seed), castor and linseed, with a total oil production of 25·14 million tons in the year 2004–2005 (Mothilal 2012; Stalker 2013). According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the production statistics of crops, groundnut cultivation in the world is undertaken in 24·07 million hectares and of which 11·45 million hectares are from Asian countries alone with an annual production of 37·64 million tons.…”
