GRIDA3—a shared resources manager for environmental data analysis and applications

Abstract: GRIDA3 (Shared Resources Manager for Environmental Data Analysis and Applications) is a multidisciplinary project designed to deliver an integrated system to forge solutions to some environmental challenges such as the constant increase of polluted sites, the sustainability of natural resources usage and the forecast of extreme meteorological events. The GRIDA3 portal is mainly based on Web 2.0 technologies and EnginFrame framework. The portal, now at an advanced stage of development, provides end-users with i… Show more

“…GRIDA3 currently hosts five geoscience portals that focus on hydrology, meteorology, site remediation, geographical information systems and seismic imaging (Murgia et al . ). Each of these portals allows a registered user to login, to browse services and documentation and to interact with the individual services, like a conventional desktop application.…”

“…Moreover, the geospatial datasets are mainly multi-dimensional, which requires complex and intensive-computing treatments. In operational context, stakeholders need to easily access data collected by remote equipments [37] and to develop "What-if" scenarios in order to assess intensity of coming hazards [35]. This work is based on the results of researches on environmental problem-solving based on Grid technology.…”

“…This work is based on the results of researches on environmental problem-solving based on Grid technology. As mentioned in [8,18,20,25,37], Grid appears as an efficient technological solution to integrate factual data and dedicated tools among multiple stakeholders through an e-collaboration portal and throughout the expertise process [30,37]. exhibit the Sardinian Grid infrastructure, GRIDA3, dedicated to enable the sharing of skills, tools and resources for multiple environmental topics, in particular hydrology.…”
