“…In solution, they are capable of forming supramolecular rack and grid structures through metal complexation. Supramolecular grid structures are investigated for their electronic, magnetic, and self‐assembly properties, as well as for use in sensors and functional materials . Due to the high stability and selectivity in structure formation BTPs are promising candidates for the construction of hierarchic self‐assembled systems …”

“…It is well known that hydrazone derivatives are one of the most used compounds as building blocks for the formation of supramolecular systems because of the physical and chemical properties that they exhibit. These properties can be reversibly modulated in response to an external stimulus, either light (5-9), addition of metal ions (10)(11)(12)(13)(14), and pH changes (15). Hydrazone derivatives based on 2-quinoline are particularly interesting molecules for the development of photo-activated switches as, upon UV-light irradiation, the quinoline-nitrogen may form an intramolecular hydrogen bond with the N-H proton from a hydrazine moiety, thus stabilizing the Z isomer making even possible to isolate it and study its properties.…”

“…Hydrazones have become in an important type of compounds for supramolecular chemistry due to the facile synthesis, ability to coordinate metal ions and the ability of interact with UV light to undergoing configurational changes (1)(2)(3)(4)(5)(6)(7)(8) . Special attention has been paid to double hydrazones containing the framework pyridine-pyrimidine-pyridine since these compounds are able of double coordinate metal ions in a terpyridine-like manner (6,8) .…”
