Grid Interconnection of PV System Using Symmetric and Asymmetric MLI Topology

Abstract: <span lang="EN-US">Generally, PV cell converts sunlight into electricity in the form of dc. Integration of PV system with the existing grid requires dc-ac conversion. This conversion is possible with the help of a dc-ac converter known as an inverter. Among all types of the inverter, multilevel inverters (MLIs) are playing a major role with all their major privileges like High power quality, low distortion, less blocking voltages for switching devices. Conventional multilevel inverter topologies such as … Show more

“…Previous research [15]- [17] compares conventional and unique pulse width modulation (PWM) for CMLI and t-type MLI. Prasadarao and Manohar [18] investigate PV-based symmetric and asymmetric MLI. Pretraining for the consequences of decreasing switching MLIs is included in [19].…”

“…Majority of these renewable sources produce a DC power waveform as an output which are not suitable for the power transmission, distribution and utilization purposes. Based on that, the produced DC power should be firstly converted into an AC power waveform and that can be realized by using a multilevel inverter (MLI) circuit [2][3][4][5]. In general, the building structure of the MLI can be classified into three main topologies based on the principle structure, known as flying capacitor MLI (FC-MLI), diode-clamped MLI (DC-MLI), and finally the cascaded h-bridge MLI (CHB-MLI) which is the most popular and more reliable.…”

“…The symmetrical topology has equal voltage source and required more DC source and H-bridge inverter. Asymmetrical topology has unequal voltage source and less no of DC sources and H-bridge compare than symmetrical method [12][13][14][15][16][17][18].…”
