Abstract

In India, there is high demand for faster modes of travel. High speed rail (HSR) can travel at speeds up to 250 kmph. The HSR project in India connects many locations, with new corridors being added with time. Benefits such as reduced travel time, employment, and ease of trade between connected locations boost economic activity. Also, high impact can be seen on the environment. For such a large-scale initiative affordability and feasibility must be kept in mind. Just like other countries, an assumption can be made that in the long run, India would reap multiple socio-economic benefits as well. Other than the benefits, the challenges must be considered too. Secondary data and information from many sources are used in the methodology for this study. The idea was tested using data analysis and visualization. The costs and operating speeds of HSRs in other nations as well as the impact of shorter travel times on the economy, land prices and jobs were noted. With the rise in global warming, a green technologies and sustainability focused project helps fast-track India's success.
