Green Synthesis of Reduced Graphene Oxide-Silver Nanoparticles Using Environmentally Friendly L-arginine for H2O2Detection

Abstract: The paper reports on the preparation of reduced graphene oxide/silver nanoparticles (rGO/AgNPs) nanocomposite through the reduction of graphene oxide (GO) and silver nitrate (AgNO3) using environmentally friendly L-arginine (Arg). The chemical composition of the resulting nanocomposite has been analyzed using transmission infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The results indicated that Arg was incorporated in the rGO matrix. The morphology of the rGO/Arg/A… Show more

“…In rGO-Arg spectrum, the peak related to the C–O decreased and the peak related to CO disappeared completely. Moreover, a new peak at 285.7 and 288.5 eV, respectively, represent the presence of C-NH 2 and C-NH groups in the spectrum and represent the conjugation of Arg to rGO …”

“…Nowadays, there are several approaches reported to accomplish the green synthesis of NPs by using plant extracts 7,8 , different sources of microbial biomass 9 , formulations based on honey 10 among others 3,11 . Besides the reduced impact to the environment, green synthesis of nanoparticles it is usually simple, less expensive and the size and optical properties comparable to those obtained by conventional methods 12,13 .…”

“…It is well known that the decoration of silver nanoparticles on GNS enhances the Raman signal via a surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) effect. 25,38 The formation of the nanocomposite was further confirmed using UV-Vis and PL spectroscopic measurements. The absorption and emission spectra are shown in Fig.…”
