Green Synthesis of Iridium Nanoparticles from Winery Waste and Their Catalytic Effectiveness in Water Decontamination

Abstract: An environmentally friendly procedure was adopted for the first time to prepare green iridium nanoparticles starting from grape marc extracts. Grape marcs, waste of Negramaro winery production, were subjected to aqueous thermal extraction at different temperatures (45, 65, 80, and 100 °C) and characterized in terms of total phenolic contents, reducing sugars, and antioxidant activity. The results obtained showed an important effect of temperature with higher amounts of polyphenols and reducing sugars and antio… Show more

“…Iridium is one of the most corrosion-resistant elements, even at very high temperatures [1]. This predisposes iridium and its alloys to use in space applications [2,3] and catalysis [4][5][6][7][8][9]. Iridium and its complexes can also be used in the medical field as therapeutic reagents [10][11][12].…”
