Abstract: In this study, 1-phenyl-1-ortho-xylene ethane (PXE) is synthesized in IL and the catalysts used were AlCl3 in 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide ([BMIM][Br]) or 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ([BMIM][Cl]).
