Green Building Practices (GBPs) are gaining prominence in many countries around the world. However, in many developing countries, Tanzania inclusive, little progress has been made in achieving its implementation. The current study sought to examine the factors attributable to low uptake, focusing on an appraisal of the stakeholders’ knowledge of GB design features, triggers, and the pathways for uptake. The study was conducted in Dar es Salaam City in Tanzania, involving different stakeholders sampled from the construction industry, including architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, and property managers. Valid data were collected through 412 questionnaires. The study revealed a general consensus among the respondents that GBs are environmentally friendly and cost effective. However, it appeared that the ranking score of GB design features according to the respondents did not correlate with their ranking in existing GB rating systems. It was concluded that there exist misconceptions among the constructions industry stakeholders regarding what green building practices entail and the essential requirements for their implementation. Therefore, the study recommends pragmatic educational trainings to stakeholders in the construction sector of Tanzania on GBPs. Mandatory legislation of green building codes and regulations is also suggested as a potential pathway for enhancing GB practices in Tanzania.

This research aimed to investigate the green practices in the mega construction project of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Over recent years, there has been an increasing need for adopting and implementing more green and sustainable practices, leading to national and international sustainable and green environmental agendas. To address the issue, green project practices were considered an independent variable comprising green design, procurement, and construction. The dependent variables were environmental performance and economic performance. Primary data were collected from respondents working on the CPEC project. A representative sample of 276 respondents was used. The analysis was conducted using PLS-SEM. The results indicated that green design significantly influences economic performance, green procurement has a positive and significant effect on environmental performance, and green construction has a positive and significant impact on both environmental and economic and financial performance. The research showed that construction management at CPEC should adopt all facets of green project practices together, reducing negative environmental effects, increasing environmental benefits, and improving long-term economic performance in the area.

The primary aim of this research is to conduct a comprehensive comparative experimental and statistical study on the flexural strength of a novel ternary blended high-performance M30 grade concrete incorporating 20% Alcofine in comparison to traditional concrete.The components employed in the experimental investigation of high-performance M30 concrete incorporating Alcofine, in contrast to conventional concrete, comprise cement, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate, water, Alcofine, and additional cementitious materials like fly ash and silica fume. The Flexural Strength of high-performance M30 concrete containing Alcofine significantly influences the performance of concrete structures, rendering it a critical mechanical property for examination in the comparative analysis. The mean flexural strength of the Conventional Concrete group measured 8.1111 N/mm^2, with a standard deviation of 0.75840 and a standard error of the mean of 0.17876. In contrast, the Ternary Blended Concrete group exhibited a higher mean flexural strength of 12.5000 N/mm^2, coupled with a larger standard deviation of 2.09341 and a standard error of the mean of 0.49342. The statistical power analysis, involving parameters such as alpha (α) and beta (β), with commonly used values of 0.05 or 0.01, indicates a significance level of 5% or 1%, respectively. Further research could delve into refining the optimal percentage of Alcofine and exploring its long-term performance under varying environmental conditions.
