Green and Selective Fluorescent Sensor for Detection of Sn (IV) and Mo (VI) Based on Boron and Nitrogen-Co-Doped Carbon Dots

Abstract: A green and simple microwave-assisted method was used to synthesis water-soluble boron and nitrogen-co-doped carbon dots (B-N-CDs). These B-N-CDs were successfully used for the fluorescent determination of Sn and Mo ions. This probe had a fast response time at pH = 4 with high sensitivity and selectivity. Linear correlation between F/F and the concentration was seen in the range of 0.2-18 μM and 0.2-25 μM for Sn and Mo, respectively. Under optimum condition, the limit of detection (LOD) for Sn and Mo were 150 … Show more

“…The efficiency of the fabricated sensor was tested with various daily life samples, including tap, river, and mineral water; tomato; and canned fish samples. [65] B, N dual-doped carbon dots (BN-CDs) exhibiting emissions in the red region were synthesized using a hydrothermal method from boric acid and cresyl violet. The BN-CDs exhibited excitation/emission maxima at 520/616 nm, less cytotoxicity, excellent photostability, and a large quantum yield rate of 18%.…”

“…A cascade approach for determination of multiple ions is cost-effective, time-saving, and highly desirable for practical applications. 16,17 Molybdenum 18−21 and its alloys have small expansion coefficient, high melting point, and good conductivity and corrosion resistance. 22−26 Mo is a cofactor of several enzymes like nitrogenase, aldehyde oxidase, xanthine oxidase, sulfite oxidase, nitrate reductase, and xanthine dehydrogenase.…”
