“…The C4D detection flow cell [23,24,26] is a polyether ether ketone (PEEK) tubing (1.0 mm i.d., 1.6 mm o.d.) with two cylindrical bands of painted silver conductive ink (2.0 cm long and 0.5 mm apart) as electrodes.…”

“…C4D has advantages over conventional conductivity detector for flow systems since the electrodes are easily mounted on the outer wall of the flow tube and is robust in use. Several applications of MBL-VP-C4D for the analysis of volatile gases converted from ionic analytes have been presented, such as dissolved ammonium and sulfide in canal water [23] and sulfite in wines [24].…”

“…Carbon dioxide was diffused from an acidified seawater sample across a semipermeable membrane into an acceptor stream (aqueous alkaline solution) and changes in conductivity, which were directly related to CO 2 content in the sample, were monitored by C 4 D . Similarly, C 4 D was also employed in sequential injection analysis (SIA) for the determination of sulfite in wines and of ammonium and sulfide in canal water . In these cases, separations of the analytes were carried out in membraneless gas diffusion cells.…”

“…Thus, sample throughputs are up to 60 samples per hour [1,[11][12][13]. Almost all kinds of detection can be coupled to the above flow-based techniques, including UV-Vis absorbance [14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22], fluorescence [22][23][24], chemiluminescence [25,26], electrochemical detections (amperometry) [27][28][29][30], conductivity [31] and contactless conductivity [32][33][34][35][36][37].…”
