“…Le Bideau et al [24] did not specifically report a shift in NMR but they did find broadening of NMR peaks of IL in confined geometry. The expected changes in the vibrational spectra in the confined geometry could not be observed by Gçbel et al [44] but Oter et al [46] and Deng et al [47] did report significant changes in the peak positions and intensity of optical fluorescence in [EMIM] cation based ILs with different anions when entrapped in porous silica matrix. Deng et al [47] in particular, have also studied changes in FT-Raman spectra and noted significant shifts in N=C (n s ) vibrations due to conformational changes on confinement and they have correlated this with the changes in optical fluorescence.…”

“…Pore volume, surface area and pore diameter of the ionogel obtained with [THN][Dca] are reported in Table 4. These results are compared to those obtained with other ionogels synthesized with dca-based IL containing imidazolium or S-ethyltetrahydrothiophene (Eth) cations at the same IL loading [41]. The use of THN + cation led to higher specific surface area (1021 m 2 .g -1 ) and pore volume (1.05 cm 3 .g -1 ) but to a significant decrease of pore size.…”

“…Silica ionogels containing Dcaanions have been elaborated by Deng and collaborators using the aqueous route in the presence of diluted hydrochloric acid [41,42]. We thus turned out to the aqueous acidic route.…”

“…Recently fluorescent ionic liquids (FILs) have received great attention due to their wide applicability in sensor techniques. Many reports have been exploring synthesis and studies of FILs, for instance, benzobis(imidazolium) ILs, Europium based luminescent ILs, dicyanamide based ILs confined into mesoporous silica gel, dendrimers based photoluminescent hydrophobic Brønsted acidic and basic ILs, gold and silver based luminescent ILs, imidazolium based fluorescent ionic liquid crystals, metal containing fluorescent ILs, high quantum yield quinolizinium ILs and so on. Distinct advantages of fluorescent IL sensors over other sensory materials can be revealed in terms of their easy synthesis, low toxicity, tunable water solubility, environmental benign nature, high thermal stability, selectivity and sensitivity as well as liquid state and solution based fluorescence etc .…”
