Gravitational waves from dark matter isocurvature

Abstract: The primordial fluctuations on large scales are adiabatic, but on smaller scales this need not be the case. Here we derive the general analytical framework to compute the stochastic gravitational wave background induced by primordial cold dark matter isocurvature fluctuations on small scales. We find that large isocurvature fluctuations can yield an observable gravitational wave signal, with a spectrum distinct from the one induced by adiabatic perturbations, and we provide for the first time the exact analyti… Show more

“…The energy density spectra of SIGWs include valuable information about PBHs and primordial non-Gaussianity [56][57][58][59][60][61][62][63]. Furthermore, recent studies on SIGWs were also extended to include the gauge issue [64][65][66][67][68][69][70][71][72][73][74][75], dumping effect [76][77][78], epochs of the Universe [79][80][81][82][83][84][85][86][87][88][89][90], and modified gravity [91][92][93]. The relationship between SIGWs and PBH formation was first studied in Ref.…”
