Gravitational Search Algorithm for Power Quality Improvement of WECS with UPQC

Abstract: In this paper, gravitational search algorithm (GSA) is used for improving the control strategy of unified power quality conditioner (UPQC). The UPQC is considered with wind energy conversion system (WECS) and grid/load to determine the dynamic behaviors. The proposed control technique alleviates the power quality (PQ) problems in the WECS. Here, the GSA approach is used to identify the ideal solutions from the available search space and the method enables the UPQC to perform under different test conditions. In… Show more

“…Figures 3 and 4 portray the operation and control approach of the proposed system-based UPFC. In accomplishing the optimal performance of the UPFC, the control of direct current link voltage assumes significance (Nagaraju and Shankar, 2019). To re-establish the direct current link voltage at set reference value, with minimum delay just as lower overshoot, the direct current link feedback controller tends to react as quickly as conceivable during the dynamic conditions of the system – for example, sudden change in load and voltage sag.…”

“…One of the primary adjustable flexible alternating current transmission system controllers is a UPFC used to voltage and power regulation in a transmission line (Hassan et al, 2010; Nagaraju and Shankar, 2019). UPFC power flow analysis is explained in the following.…”
