Graphene/Magnetite (Fe3O4) Hybrid Fillers for Thermoplastic Composites: X-Band Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Characteristics

Abstract: Hybrid composites of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) with multilayered graphene/iron oxide (MLG/Fe 3 O 4 ) were prepared by solution casting. Tensile and viscoelastic characteristics of the hybrid nanocomposites were studied in comparison with the corresponding pure polymer and polymer/MLG composite. Increase in Fe 3 O 4 content in the hybrid composites reduces their electrical conductivity and thermal stability. The hybrid composite films were hot stacked to get a 2-mm-thick mult… Show more

“…As one important wave band in the electromagnetic wave, X-Band electromagnetic waves are the most common used in military and telecommunications devices. [5][6][7][8] Obviously, electromagnetic interference (EMI) is a great challenge in the application of the certain high-end precision scientific and military equipment. For the reflectional EMI shielding materials, EMI shielding is mainly based on electromagnetic wave reflection by charge carriers.…”
