Graphene Aerogel Modified Carbon Paper as Anode for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

Abstract: Carbon paper‐supported graphene aerogels are examined as anode electrodes for lithium‐ion batteries, employing a hydrothermal process and a freeze‐drying step. Triethylenetetramine (TETA) and o‐phenylenediamine (OPD) prove to promote graphene aerogel formation and its chemical bonding onto the surface of carbon paper. The electrochemical results demonstrate that the electrode treated with the former diamine has a remarkable rate capability with higher capacities as compared with the electrode treated with the … Show more

“…Aerogels have recently drawn considerable attention in energy storage applications, for example, carbon-based aerogels are used both as anodes and cathodes for lithium-ion [99][100][101], lithium-sulfur [102][103][104], and sodium-ion [105,106] batteries. Alternatively, they also find use in supercapacitors [107][108][109][110][111], an example for Mxene-rGO (Ti 3 Cr 2 T x -reduced graphene oxide) aerogel is given in Fig.…”

“…Graphene can be functionalized by a plethora of organic reactions affording interesting derivatives [ 3 ]. Therefore, graphene and its derivatives have been investigated in a great variety of applications, including sensors [ 4 , 5 , 6 ], conductive inks [ 7 , 8 ], bioapplications [ 9 ], batteries, and supercapacitors [ 10 , 11 , 12 ], etc. In most of these applications, the 2D structured graphene nanosheets are necessary to be combined with bulk materials such as polymers, ceramics, or metals.…”
