“…The WVP value of the FMS film that were incorporated with clove leaf oil decreased marginally from 3.55 to 3.49 × 10 −9 g m s −1 Pa with the addition of the oil. A similar tendency was observed in the corn starch‐chitosan films that contained lemon essential oil . On the other hand, Maizura et al reported that the WVP value of sago starch‐alginate film that was incorporated with lemongrass oil increased.…”

“…Pagno et al [22] observed that the TS of the films made of quinoa flour containing oregano oil decreased considerably from 3.5 to 1.2 MPa, and this was accompanied by an increase in E from 14.3 to 27.3% with the addition of the oil of up to 2.0%. Bof et al [5] also reported that the addition of lemon essential oil of up to 3% to the corn starch-chitosan film resulted in a decrease in its TS from 18.3 to 6.7 MPa and an increase in its E from 57.0 to 66.0%. Moreover, corn starch-based films that contained Mentha pulegium oil also showed a decrease in TS and an increase in E. [20] These changes in the mechanical properties of the starch films with essential oils can be explained by the less cohesive network between starch and essential oils.…”
