“…However, the prognostic value of age and menopausal status in AGCT is controversial in the literature. 3,20 Although Chan et al 21 reported that age younger than 50 years was a favorable prognostic factor, Lee et al 22 showed that recurrence rate was higher at the age younger than 40 years.…”

“…In the study by Abu-Rustum et al, 17 15% of the patients with granulosa cell tumor recurrence were reported to have retroperitoneal lymph node involvement. Diddle et al 20 showed lymph node metastasis in the postmortem evaluation of 8% of the patients who died of disease after AGCT recurrence. Nodal metastasis may not be detected in the initial staging surgery of patients with AGCT, because the disease in the lymph nodes is occult.…”

“…The most recent case recurred as a solid, hypoattenuating mass in the posterior mediastinum . The other case was 1 out of a series of 110 patients during post‐mortem examination; this case predated modern CT imaging . Our case is the first documented case in the medical literature of a mediastinal recurrence of GCT in the superior mediastinum.…”

“…It is generally agreed that thecomas are benign tumours but the more recent literature suggests that granulosa cell tumours should be regarded as potentially malignant althoug h recurrence and metastasis may be slow with one-third of recurrences presenting more than 5 years after initial treatm ent and one-® fth after 10 years (Diddle, 1952) . Granulosa cell tumours, thecomas and ® bromas represent a spectrum of appearances.…”
