Granulomatous mural folliculitis in a dog treated with ciclosporin

Abstract: An 8‐year‐old, neutered, male Golden Retriever presented for progressive alopecia and pruritus along the dorsum. Histopathology revealed granulomatous mural folliculitis, which is a rare inflammatory skin condition in dogs. Treatment with Atopica resulted in hair regrowth and good control of pruritus. However, switching to generic modified cyclosporine resulted in relapse of alopecia and pruritus, which resolved within 2 months after returning to the Food and Drug Administration approved veterinary product.
