Granuloma Annulare of the Penis: A Uncommon Location for an Usual Disease

Abstract: The subcutaneous clinical variant of granuloma annulare (GA) is rare and tends to present more frequently in children, in locations unusual for conventional GA. Involvement of the penis is exceptional and has been rarely reported. Most cases are located in the shaft of the penis and tend to persist without spontaneous remission. “…Granuloma annulare lesions are typically located on the lateral or dorsal surfaces of the hands and feet, arms, thighs, and trunk [1][2][3]. Although cases of GA presenting in unusual sites have been documented in the literature, reports of GA initially presenting as lesions isolated to the bilateral inguinal folds have not been well documented [2,[4][5][6]. We present a case of a patient with GA, localized to the inguinal folds, mimicking tinea cruris.…”

Penile involvement is rare [1][2][3][4][5][6] (Table 1). Clinically, GA of the penis occurs as single/multiple firm and skin-coloured subcutaneous nodules without genitourinary symptoms.…”
