Granulocyte Colony‐stimulating Factor Suppresses Autologous Tumor Killing Activity of the Peripheral Blood Lymphocytes in the Patients with Ovarian Carcinoma

Abstract: The G-CSF appears to be a suppressor of antitumor immunity. Routine administration of G-CSF to cancer patients may not be recommended, except for febrile neutropenia.

“…IL‐12 is mainly produced by antigen presentation cells and is considered to be one of the most important cytokines for promoting Th1 reaction. As reported by us and others, a combination of IL‐2 and IL‐12 strongly enhances lymphokine‐activated killer activities 12–15 . Hence, we treated DMNC with IL‐2 and IL‐12 with/without LPS.…”

“…In conclusion, this manuscript does not exclude the use of rhG-CSF in severe neutropenic pretenn newborns (where it might be mandatory) (21), but underlines the necessity to find the right criteria to safely administer this drug, as also reported for neutropenic cancer patients (48). Further studies are therefore necessary to establish suitable guidelines.…”

“…Of interest, the requirement of IL-12 for IFN-c production by TLR stimulation has been reported [5,9]. We and others have reported indispensable roles for IL-2 and IL-12 in the stimulation of lymphokineactivated killer (LAK) cells against choriocarcinoma and autologous tumor cells [10][11][12]. Therefore, we asked whether the presence of IL-2 and IL-12 would affect TLR3 expression and subsequent TLR3-mediated NK cell activation.…”
