This paper proposes a system-level innovation roadmap for implementing innovations for climate adaptation of railway infrastructure. The aim of this research was to explore, identify, and analyse the barriers and enablers related to implementing the CliMaint1 innovation. The CliMaint innovation is a decision support system that will aid adaptation to climate change for railway infrastructure. To achieve the aim of the research, barriers and enablers related to five system innovation dimensions have been explored, identified, and analysed. Two interview studies and a review of the literature have been conducted. In total, 45 experts from a population with knowledge in infrastructure and transportation networks have been selected and interviewed for the study. The interviews have been analysed and the related barriers and enablers for implementation associated to each system innovation dimension have been identified. It was concluded that when identifying barriers and enablers to introducing new business models, two categories stand out: 1) barriers related to the external environment, e.g., policy and industry and low digitalisation readiness level, and 2) barriers related to the internal environment, e.g., tendering process, business models, and client-supplier relationships. The barriers and enablers concerning the implementation of the innovation is related to policy, regulations, process, digitalisation, business models, and finance. The findings concerning barriers and enablers has been used to propose a roadmap, suggesting appropriate measures to accelerate the implementation of the CliMaint innovation. [1] www.ltu.se/climaint
