“…In this study, the highest abundance was observed in summer which mainly related to Streblospio species of polychaetes (Angulo-Preckler et al, 2017). Ghasemi et al (2016) studied on macrobenthos Gorgan Bay and indicated that the dominance of the Streblospio community (Kosari et al, 2009). In another study by Jalili et al, (2010) on macrobenthos in Bandar Anzali in Gilan Province the macrobenthos fauna of the southwestern part of Wetland was carried out.…”

“…A total of 476 invertebrate species have been identified in the Caspian Sea, 46% of which are native to the Caspian Sea and more than 20% of which are non-native. Most of them are including benthic communities (Ghasemi et al, 2016;Farshchi et al, 2018). These organisms are the most important food source for fish.…”

“…In the southern parts with a salinity of 12-13 ppm., brackish and euryhaline marine species predominate (Ghasemi et al, 2016) and demonstrate the distribution and colonization potential of pelagic, nektonic, and benthic organisms in this area (Ghasemi et al, 2014). The macrobenthos composition changed after the invasion of the comb jelly Mnemiopsis leidyi, which appeared in the late 1990s in the CS (Roohi et al, 2010).…”

“…The Gorgan Bay is a large (550 km 2 area), shallow (4.5 m max. depth) inlet at the extreme southeast corner of the Caspian Sea, almost totally cut off from the Caspian Sea by the Miankaleh Peninsula (Gharibreza et al., 2018; Ghasemi et al., 2016). The Anzali Wetland complex in the western part of the southern Caspian Sea is a freshwater lagoon (191 km 2 area) fed by many rivers (e.g., Chafroud, Bahambar, Morghak, Masal, Palangvar, Masolehrodkhan, Pasikhan, Siahdarvishan, Lakanroud, and Siahroud; Abbasi et al., 2019) and separated from the sea by a dune system.…”
