Google's web page ranking applied to different topological web graph structures

Abstract: This research is part of the ongoing study to better understand web page ranking on the web. It looks at a web page as a graph structure or a web graph, and tries to classify different web graphs in the new coordinate space: (out-degree, in-degree). The out-degree coordinate od is defined as the number of outgoing web pages from a given web page. The in-degree id coordinate is the number of web pages that point to a given web page. In this new coordinate space a metric is built to classify how close or far dif… Show more

“…We are also continuing our experiments on changing graphs and in particular on the estimate of the derivative of the importance. We finally want to analyze more in-depth the impact of various specific graph patterns as done in [19] for the off-line algorithm.…”

“…Haveliwala (1999) developed computing techniques to apply standard PageRank to smaller platforms. Meghabghab (2002) proposed a version based upon in and out degrees of nodes, but this did not produce improved results. Richardson and Domingos (2001) developed a combination of PageRank with content information, and probably this is what Google does already.…”

“…These make relevant Web document content accessible to users. Web crawling is also the data collection technique that supports structural and informetric analyses of the Web graph (e.g., Meghabghab, 2001). In particular, one form of analysis of the Web graph considers the inlinks and outlinks of nodes, which represent document references and citations, respectively (Cronin, 2001; Egghe & Rousseau, 1990).…”
