Abstract: Sleep is a restorative biological process that is crucial for health and homeostasis. However, patient sleep is frequently interrupted in the hospital environment, particularly within the intensive care unit. Suboptimal sleep may alter the immune response and make patients more vulnerable to infection and sepsis.
