“…This species showed two broad bands at ∼320 and ∼400 nm in the UV-visible spectrum which agrees well with that reported in the literature. 29 Once TMAB was added, the color of the solution turned pale yellow indicating the reduction of Au(III) to Au(I) 30,31 and the UV-visible spectrum was featureless. Attempts to isolate and characterize the pale yellow product were unsuccessful due to the presence of TMAB which reduces Au(I) to its elemental form in the solid state also.…”

“…This can be attributed to the higher specific surface area of FeOOH, which allowed for increased gold species adsorption and a higher gold loading. In alkaline aqueous solutions, gold species exist as soluble complex anions instead of Au(OH) 3 precipitant [22]. The actual reaction occurring during synthesis could be the adsorption of complex anions onto the support by reaction with surface hydroxyl groups; therefore, the adsorption capacity of the support was critical for the loading of gold.…”

“…The constants of Processes ( 1)-( 3) are adopted from [47] 4)-( 7) are taken from the paper [48] (log β (4) = 7.87; log β (5) = 14.79; log β (6) = 20.92; log β (7) = 25.98). The value of log β (8) = 13.91 was taken from the report [49].…”
