Gold‐ and Silver‐Coated Barium Titanate Nanocomposites as Probes for Two‐Photon Multimodal Microspectroscopy

Abstract: Improved multiphoton-excited imaging and microspectroscopy require nanoprobes that can give different nonlinear optical signals. Here, composite nanostructures with a barium titanate core and a plasmonic moiety at their surface are synthesized and characterized. It is found that the core provides a high second-order nonlinear susceptibility for sensitive second harmonic generation (SHG) imaging in living cells. As a second function in the twophoton regime, the plasmonic part yields high local fields for resona… Show more

“…[18,25a,26] Ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectroscopy analyses showed a broad absorption in the UV range for both PdPt and PdPtAu alloys (Figure S4, Supporting Information). [27] The vertical drop in the UV-vis absorbance (at ≈330 nm) for all samples was due to the internal shift from a deuterium lamp to tungsten, [28] equipped in the UV1900 spectrophotometer (AuCy, China). The similar vertical drop was also observed for other nanomaterials (Figure S5, Supporting Information), consistent with previous references.…”

“…This hyper Raman scattering technique offers a complimentary vibrational information from molecules and can be also used to probe environments. [194] BaTiO 3 nanoparticles in combination with metallic seeds also show an enhanced third order nonlinearity, which makes them promising as contrast agents, biosensors or phase conjugate nanomirrors. [119] Another example of hybrid nanostructures are dimers consisting of a BaTiO 3 nanoparticle and a gold nanoparticle.…”

“…We simulate the boosting of electromagnetic elds for different nano-pillar arrays by the Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) method. 30,31 The simulation output is compared with experimental results of Rhodamine B (RhB) solutions. In a proof-of-concept experiment, we performed SERS measurements on a mix of fumonisin b1 and deoxynivalenol.…”
