The DNA genomes of the viral strains 75-P-2756, 66-P-347, DN-599, DDV-71, Movar and LIT have virtually identical restriction enzyme patterns, which differ from those ofBHV-1 (IBR and IPV), BHV-2, BHV-3 (Ludwig, 1983), and BHV-6 (Engels et al, 1983). Consequently, we propose to classify the BHV-4 collection of viral isolates as bovine cytomegaloviruses on a tentative basis, pending further comparisons with other herpesviruses.…”
